Disc herniation

What is a Herniated Disc?

Disc herniation is a condition in which the nucleus pulposus of the spinal disc escapes from its normal position in the annulus fibrosus, compressing the spinal canal or nerve roots, causing pain and numbness in the spine.

Any segment of the spine can have a disc herniation, but the most common are lumbar disc herniation and cervical disc herniation, because these locations are most affected by daily living habits.

Signs of a Herniated Disc?

* Cervical disc herniation:

  • Pain, stiffness in the neck, shoulders, and arms, spreading to the shoulder blades, numbness in the thumbs and wrists.
  • Neck pain increases when turning the neck, arching the neck, sneezing, coughing, working a lot or driving.
  • The patient may have headaches, dizziness.
  • Lack of flexibility in arm movements due to loss of strength, weakness of the arm muscles, difficulty in holding objects.

* Lumbar disc herniation:

  • Sudden and severe lower back pain
  • Dull pain spreading in the lower back, sharp pain in attacks.
  • Inconvenient movement, difficulty arching the back or bending low.
  • Lower back pain accompanied by sciatica, pain spreading in an arc to the front of the chest, along the intercostal space.
  • Numbness or weakness in both limbs. Difficulty flexing and extending the big toe, numbness is clearly evident in the instep and buttocks.
  • Pain increases when sitting, lying on side, coughing, sneezing, defecating, vigorous exercise
  • The patient tends to stand crooked to one side.

31 / 5.000 Complications of Herniated Disc

  • Widespread pain: Severe pain can spread along the spine down the entire back, then to the buttocks, thighs and calves, making these parts weaker and less flexible.
  • Autonomic nervous system disorder syndrome: The most obvious manifestations of this syndrome are dizziness, tinnitus, loss of balance, sometimes pain in the eye socket, feeling of blurred vision, sweating.
  • Brachial plexus compression: From the manifestation of pain and fatigue in the neck and shoulders, muscle contractions will spread down one or both arms, pain accompanied by numbness or atrophy of the arm muscles.
  • Bladder or bowel dysfunction, urinary and fecal incontinence.
  • Spinal stenosis: Symptoms can range from mild to severe, such as severe cervical spine pain, pain or numbness in the shoulders, shoulder blades, arms, sometimes causing muscle weakness. Symptoms are similar to sciatica.
  • Lifelong disability: In cases where a herniated disc compresses the cervical spinal cord, the patient may be disabled for life due to paralysis.

Treatment Protocol for Herniated Disc

JNQ is a pioneer in applying Chiropractic therapy from the US in a multidisciplinary regimen to help treat herniated discs without drugs or surgery while still ensuring effective treatment.
Chiropractic treatment

Chiropractic doctors will use their hands to correct misalignment of the joints, release compressed nerves in the wrist (the main cause of the disease), and immediately reduce pain and numbness. At the same time, they stimulate the self-healing mechanism, helping the body to restore damaged tissue without the need for drugs or invasive procedures.

High-tech therapy

Intensive treatment with high-tech machines: DOC bed, orthopedic bed, Shockwave shock waves, high-intensity laser, Intelect Neo therapy device… helps to quickly relieve multi-point pain, increase cell regeneration, and promote recovery speed 3 times faster.
